Kerstin Mayrberger has been Professor of University Teaching and Learning with Digital Media at Universität Hamburg since 2014. She works in the Universitätskolleg (UK.Digital) and Hamburg Center for University Teaching and Learning (HUL) Kerstin serves as Universität Hamburg’s academic chair of Digitalisation of Teaching and Learning (DTL). She is a member of the steering commitee of the Hamburg Open Online University.
Her research focuses on teaching and learning with digital media (Mediendidaktik) in formal education. Areas of interest include blended learning and online-learning in higher education, open education and the professionalism of (media) pedagogy, and higher education and teacher education. Kerstin Mayrberger has recently published several articles on participatory learning using social media, mobile learning, e-portfolio-work, digital literacy and open educational resources, and open educational practice in schools and higher education.
Previously, Kerstin Mayrberger was Professor of Teaching and Learning with Digital Media and Media Pedagogy at the interdisciplinary Institute of Media, Knowledge and Communication at Universität Augsburg (2011–2014) and Assistant Professor of Teaching and Learning with Digital Media and Media Pedagogy at Universität Mainz (2009–2011). In 2007 she was awarded her PhD for her dissertation on student collaboration with computers in open education (offener Unterricht) in German primary schools. She studied education at Universität Lüneburg and in Hamburg (1996–2002).
